I am thinking very seriously about getting some chickens for my backyard. Two of them. According to Austin zoning laws, you can have two chickens in your backyard. Hens, not Roosters. Roosters are of course too loud.
Chickens are cute and funny and interesting.
Chickens are relatively easy to care for.
Chickens eat lots of bugs in your yard.
Chickens lay eggs!
And I would be rescuing two chickens from life (and death) on a factory farm.
Those seems like excellent reasons. There are many chicken types to choose from; I'm interested in this type, as well as this one and this one and this one.
We shall see ...
