Dreams fulfilled ...

Ha! Well, I had my breakfast sandwhich! It was yummy.

And I've had Mexican and Chinese food. And it was all yummy.

But guess what? I haven't eaten nearly as much as I thought I would. I haven't eaten much at all.

Ordered two sausage biscuits: Only ate one!
Ordered four shrimp quesadillas: Only ate two!
Ordered crispy honey shrimp: Only ate half the order!

Maybe my big ol' stomach is getting a wee bit smaller.

Cool by me ...

Celebrate good times ... come on!

Well, I hit my first goal. I lost another 7 lbs this past week, which puts me over 40 lbs before the end of August. That was goal #1!

Now time for just a slight break. I will not be counting WW points next week and may not weigh in (we'll see about that). But the following week, I'll be back on the program and ready to go again.

Folks have asked me how I have been successsful thus far. Three main things:

  • Taking it one meal at a time
  • Having absolutely no contraband in my house
  • Setting this "break" week up in advance so I knew exactly when it was coming

That's really it. Certainly the weekly weigh-ins have helped me, but the three things I listed above have really been keys for me.

7 7 7

Again, this week, 7 lbs. I am totally down with that. I was bracing for 4, maybe 5.

I love 7!

As I've mentioned, every Tuesday when I weigh, I get a push that helps me keep going until the next Tuesday.

My goal has been to hit 40 lbs before the end of August. Unless something crazy happens, I should have no problem doing that!

Cool ...

So tasty and so terrible

You know, dieting takes a mental toll. At least it does on me. I think I may have reached a new low in that respect as I am craving, uncontrollably, vienna sausages. Remember those things?

It even repulses me at the same time I crave it. Those little flesh-colored, cylindrical molds of meat glistening with ... meat juice or whatever the hell that is.

Ok, I no longer crave it. Just needed to work that out of my system. Thanks!

Yep, I biked

208 calories ...

I is Tired

Ok, last blog for the day probably.

I've done quite a bit of yard work and went to Lowe's to get some mulch and soil and weed fabric. But won't mess with that until tomorrow.

Just because I've quit posting about my biking doesn't mean I've stopped, by the way. I biked every day from the day I started until Thursday. I did not bike Thursday night or last night, so I've got to get back on tonight. I'm not worried excercise-wise since I've done so much work today, but if I skipped biking for three days, that would definitely threaten the habit I'm trying to form.

Have a good one ...

I is Hungry

Ok, so the WW stuff is getting just a bit harder. Mainly, it is because I can't find healthy, simple things to eat that I like. No worries -- I can still do it; I just need some new ideas for breakfast and lunch in particular.

Typically, my meals consist of:

Breakfast -- yogurt & fruit or hard-boiled eggs & fruit
Lunch -- soup, sandwich, or pasta (turkey spaghetti, for example)
Supper -- fish, chicken, pork, scrambled eggs & turkey bacon, sandwich, cereal

I am getting really tired of yogurt, so I'm thinking I'll go with some oatmeal. What else would be good for breakfast? I only need it to be simple and something I can eat at work.

Lunch is the hardest. After a day or two, I get really sick of the same sandwich or spaghetti or whatever. I need variety, but again, it has got to be pretty simple. I guess I can try some kind of spinach salad (spinach being the only veggie I even half-way like). I just don't have many ideas for lunch.

Anyway, what I've listed above is pretty much all I've eated since I started on this program. If I want a snack, it is ALWAYS fruit. I've had nothing fried or greasy (well, the bacon maybe) or with added sugar since I started WW. Not a single soft drink, not a piece of candy, cake, pie, donut, nothing ...

And certainly not a BREAKFAST SANDWICH! Ugh ... I want one ...

And another thing ...

Please bear with me as I may blog many times today. I am working in the yard (for fall gardening), but it is so HOT out there that I'm just working in 30 minute intervals. In between working, I thought I would focus my time here!

Related to my chicken post below, I have a good friend who is very interesting in sustainable living. She has recently gotten involved as a CSA (community supported agriculture) member, which means she pays a certain amount to get a share of the harvest from a local, organic (usually) farm. Every week or every other week, she'll get a basket of fresh veggies, fruit, herbs, and eggs. Some farms even offer meat, nuts, and fresh flowers.

It is really fascinating and makes me wish I liked vegetables. (As my friends and family know, I do not eat vegetables.) I would love to be a part of it. I guess I'll just continue with my own little garden (and maybe my two chickens), but for anyone who loves fresh produce, I'd recommend giving this a try. It helps local family farms, as well as the environment, and fresh organic produce just tastes better (so I've been told)!

I mean, does this stuff look heavenly or what??

Ok, back to my garden.

Cluck cluck

I am thinking very seriously about getting some chickens for my backyard. Two of them. According to Austin zoning laws, you can have two chickens in your backyard. Hens, not Roosters. Roosters are of course too loud.

Chickens are cute and funny and interesting.

Chickens are relatively easy to care for.

Chickens eat lots of bugs in your yard.

Chickens lay eggs!

And I would be rescuing two chickens from life (and death) on a factory farm.

Those seems like excellent reasons. There are many chicken types to choose from; I'm interested in this type, as well as this one and this one and this one.

We shall see ...

Lucky 7

I suppose I can keeping going now for another week. I lost 7 lbs this week (6.8 lbs to be precise). I am happy with that.

Maybe that will keep my breakfast sandwich dreams at bay!

Laters ...

TGIT

I hope it get some good news at WW today. Just in time to give me a desperately needed boost of will power.

I had a dream last night, no lie, of breakfast sandwiches. Sausage biscuits, sourdough Jack breakfast sandwiches, croissan'wiches ... I wasn't eating them in my dream, but I was talking about them and they kept popping up. Everywhere I went there was a pile of breakfast sandwiches!

I'm messed up in the head ...

Three for three ...

Well, I kept my commitment to exercise three times this week. That's good. So now I am done with exercise. Hahahahaha. Just kidding ...

176 calories tonight.

I've discovered a great side benefit of this WW thing. I'm saving some serious money on food. When I was last eating healthy, I ordered all my meals from a local diet place. It cost about $150 a week. And I spend that much or more when I'm not eating healthy (fast-food, pizza, etc.).

Since I started WW, I've been spending about $70 a week.

Ok, time for a little Buffy.

Catch you on the flipside ...

Two down, one to go ...

152 calories tonight ...

One down, two to go ...

Ok, I did it. I actually exercised tonight. A very low-intensity ride on my stationary bike.

I only burned 135 calories, which doesn't seem like much at all. But I guess I'll eventually increase my time and intensity and start burning some real calories. I mean, really, I burned off like one piece of bread from my turkey sandwich at lunch.

Damn, that's messed up ...
